Was fortunate enough to be at this amazing concert...,
saw the band in Boston the year before...,didn't think they would top that performance but IMHO they sure did in set 1!Keep coming to listen to the stupendous version of Lazy Lightening/Supplication..., you can be sure that a lot of the crow were screaming along w/Bobby & Donna!!

This was my first ever Dead show. I remember making my way down to the floor from our nose-bleed seats and finding that everyone was standing on their chairs. This meant that you could squeeze in between the rows of chairs, but of course you couldn't see anything with everyone towering over you. It sounded great though. This turned out to be a good place to be, because there was a real crush in the main aisle down to the stage. They had the Hell's Angels working as security, and they decided to clear the crowd in the main aisle. One huge guy tunneled his way down towards the front while another guy started pulling people out of the aisle from the back. Then the guy down front locked his arms and just shoved everyone back like a bulldozer. Crude but effective. I will never forget seeing one deadhead who was not pleased about this arguing with the Hell's Angel, saying that he was free to stand there if he wanted to, and over the beautiful sounds of the Dead on stage I heard the Angel shout at the guy, in a growling menacing tone, "Do you want me to KILL you?!". Bit of a buzz kill, but we got over it.

I drove up from NYC for the show. It was probably the best show I've ever seen and I saw a lot. At one point they were tuning and I said to my friend that I hoped it wasn't Dancing in the Streets. It was and it was awesome.

I remember this just rocking! We had driven done from Portland and there was no doubt to the stream of deadheads cruising down 95 and on 90. The mood was awesome, and just feeling fine at the end, with echoes of Werewolves of London all over the parking lot.

this absolutely blows the other aud wayyyy out of the water. on the other recording the panning is totally off, sound will frequently pan fully to the left or right and it's just full of static. this recording on the other hand, sounds frucking fantastic, level and clear. solid audience recording.

Yeah, this show lives up to it's awesome reputation (which often isn't the case), mescaline or no mescaline.
So much praise has been heaped upon "Cold Rain And Snow", "Dancin'", etc., that I feel I should make a point to mention Jerry's ballads of the evening: "Peggy O" and "Stella Blue". His singing & soloing in "Peggy O" are absolutely breathtaking, and this quality is repeated in this evening's STUNNING version of "Stella Blue".
Also gotta make a point to mention Phil's "Werewolves of anywhere" line during "Werewolves Of London"; it makes me giggle every time!
Great AUD recording here; I'll grab it off the shelf quicker than the SDBD.
Get this one, folks...!!

It's funny hearing the A-holes yelling..."sit down"
They must've thought they were going to see Pink Floyd?

Gotta go 5 stars on this. What a fun show and what a clean recording! I much prefer this to the Dicks Picks SBD that I bought.
This is of course the show that the band were rumoured to have been tripping on mescaline. It sure sounds like it, especially the vocals on Dancing In The Street. Even if they weren't on mescaline the band was certainly ON! Great show!

they played a great tight show this night -- but more importantly they were having a ball... as evidenced by the WEREWOLVES - not a top shelf great song, but one that really suited jerry well and made for a fun encore, capping off a well-above par show.
this AUD is quality and better than the other one that is available here -- get it!

This is certainly the best end of Supplication I've ever heard. Weir whips it the f**k out!! The Dancin vocals are pretty nutty too, beginning and end, and in the jam Jerry lets loose. Bobby is on it tonight. This is an AUD worth picking up. 1978 is a little spotty for me, and this one is nice.
It's not perfect, but I prefer this AUD to the other one.
DEFINITELY worth the download if you don't have the dick's picks, I think I'd rather have the AUD so you hear the audience's reaction to this wacky but smokin show.
